remember when i found these amazing shelves way back when! well i have finally gotten it somewhat put together. i'm still not 100% happy with it but it's a lot better than what it was.
i loved how they decorated the shelves in pottery barn, with the vintage cameras, it was a perfect way to display the two cameras i have bought. i also had these white frames that i wasn't using at the time along with some candles, i though it was a fun way to display them both by framing the candles. i just tried to use what i had around the house for the most part.
it's a tradition to get those old western family photos done at jackson hole, and displaying one of those photos went perfect with the antique cameras. and i loved adding our photobooth pictures as well as a fun tough. i did however go buy that awesome white globe at target for $25.

the neglected : humble abode
our living room.
tv room.
toy room.
messy room.
i haven't put much thought into this room, as you can see. there is usually a layer of toys covering the ground and under that, a layer of crumbs. thanks to oliver. it's still the original paint color from when we moved in and right now i have no plan to paint. i need to figure out what to do with the big wall by the couch.. it needs... something, pictures, art, anything. and i would have the entertainment center centered but there is a cord that sticks out about 2 inches for the cable and requires the tv stand to then stick out even further and it's all so annoying.
i have better plans for that branch above the tv i just need to set 15 minutes aside to finish it. and i need to figure out what to put on the shelves... ugh. it's all unfinished. so this is the before photo and i will show the process of it getting done. also, do you like the slide in the room?! that was oliver's birthday present ;) we were planning on putting it up in his room but we'll eventually get it up there ;)

Dining area dilemma
To mix or not to... that is the question.
We ended up selling our beautiful dining set we've had since we got married and getting another one. I loved the one we had because it was unique and charming, but it was too big for our small space. We opted to go with a round table which also has an additional leaf if we want to make it larger at some point. Of course I am a die hard white furniture fan so that was what I was on the search for. We sold our old dining room set on KSL for the same price we got the new one, also from KSL.
The new set we got only came with 3 chairs but I can easily go buy the same chair to have a set of 4. I'm currently debating whether I want it all to match or if I want to mix it up, and get different chairs for the table.

Liam's Nursery
Due to my friend Danielle's request... here is Liam's Nursery! I posted some BEFORE photos from when it was Oliver's nursery way back when (tear). The before photos were right after we had moved in. The green was from the previous owners as were the drapes. And even though green is my favorite color, I of course had an itch to paint it. When I told Brett I wanted to do stripes he was totally up for it, that is until he started the process. Ugh, it was grueling. But SOOOO worth it, and he agrees. I love how open and fresh the white and gray paint makes the room feel.
I also wanted new bedding but didn't want to pay the big bucks for something that Liam would grow out of so soon. So I pulled out my handy dandy sewing machine and got working! I made the drapes, crib skirt, fitted sheet and pillows, as well as a cute little stuffed bunny. I opted to not make a crib bumper. I wasn't aware of the chance of suffocation with a bumper when we had Oliver, hence he had one. And even though Oliver is alive and well I just couldn't do it. I'm a worry wart and I would be getting up every 15 minutes to check on Liam. I think bumpers are adorable and I don't think other parents are bad for having one. The risk just wasn't worth it to me. So long story short, we don't have a bumper for Liam. :)
The Rocking chair is the same one I just took off the yellow slipcover. I plan on making a slipcover myself, but we'll see if that really happens. I might just take it to my friends dad who really knows how to do it. I had to buy a new dresser since we moved the white dresser and bookshelf in Oliver's room. I realized I like having a shorter dresser now from having Liam's taller one but oh well. And remember how I said I wanted a map in the nursery! Well I got one! Brett and I both want to find a better one but this one will due for now.
My favorite thing about the nursery is the lamp. I love the shape and the fact that it dims! I also love the fabric, especially the fitted sheet.
